Dear members and supporters of the Green Party of Quebec,
Following the election, I'd like to share some of my conclusions with you.
First, I'd like to thank each and every one of you for your support, your encouragement, your actions, and your contribution to the green cause.
I'm very proud of every member of our team. Together we worked very hard to build and present an alternative vision for the future of Quebec that resonated very well with the electorate.
The election campaign has put us in touch with thousands of supporters, and we're ready to continue the work. More and more people are attracted by the unifying message of the Green Party of Quebec, and we have all the tools to take this party to the next level.
With a majority Liberal government in Quebec, the PVQ has a fundamental role to play in shaping the political debate in Quebec.
We're taking our place in the political system and the years ahead look promising. In fact, I'm already being approached by the media to criticize the environmental policies of Mr. Couillard and the PLQ.
With policies on all the issues, extraordinary candidates, and an increased presence in the field, on the web and in the media, we have succeeded in taking our place in the debate.
Although we would have liked to have received more votes, we still managed to present a serious campaign that turned many heads. In an election with such polarizing issues and a climate where strategic voting is king, support for our party didn't necessarily translate into a vote on election day. Our supporters far outnumber our voters this election, and I've received many messages from citizens encouraging us to continue in this direction.
For the next few years, the PVQ will have the arduous task of continuing to stand out on the political scene.
Together, we can continue to make our ideas heard by keeping the PVQ at the heart of the action.
Over the next few weeks, we'll be holding a series of consultations to discuss the future of the party. We'll also continue to take part in the news, organize events, and travel across Quebec to forge our regional ties. These next four years will be our chance to assemble a full team of candidates for the first time, sending a clear message to our province that we're up to the challenge.
In the meantime, please do not hesitate to write to me with your impressions and comments on the future of the Green Party of Quebec.
In solidarity,
Alex Tyrrell
Leader of the Quebec Green Party
