Montreal, September 04, 2020 - On September 03, 2020, the Green Party of Quebec (PVQ) hosted one of the Quebec debates of the Green Party of Canada's leadership candidates. The debate, which featured Meryam Haddad, Dimitri Lascaris, David Merner, Annamie Paul, Courtney Howard and Glenn Murray, was an opportunity to introduce the provincial audience to Canada's next green leadership through the participants' unique visions.
Discussions between the candidates focused initially on Canada's place in world politics, the left-right axis within the Green Party of Canada, issues specific to Quebec (Quebec's uniqueness: French, values, Quebec-Ottawa relations), and carbon pricing. In a second phase, the candidates took part in a political conversation in which the various subjects they freely broached generated a confrontation of ideas that expressed different, nuanced but also complementary ideological positions.
The PVQ is proud to have been able to encourage such a debate of ideas and such a meeting of particular visions regarding the future of the Green Party of Canada. This organizational action is intended to contribute to the strengthening of a healthy democracy.
