The leader of the Green Party of Quebec, Alex Tyrrell, and José Bro, candidate in Huntingdon, took the floor on Thursday to present the party's vision for pesticides.
The Green Party of Quebec supports the banning of all pesticides (and herbicides) on our territory by the year 2022. This ban will apply to both agriculture and urban centers. Scientific research is clear: pesticides are harmful to the health of humans, animals and biodiversity. Alternatives exist; permaculture, mechanical weed control systems and bioremediation are all solutions to pesticide problems. The agricultural industry is fully capable of adapting, and a Green government will be there to help with the transition.
