I was on CTV Montreal News at 11:00 last night calling for the progressive withdrawal of firearms from police officers on patrol in Québec.
There have been too many deaths of people with mental illness who are shot in the chest for doing things like holding knives while in crisis. Police training should focus on deescalation and interventions that do not involve lethal force.
