Today the Quebec Green Party deplores both political profiling and the use of Highway Safety Code Article 500.1 to arbitrarily arrest groups of peaceful protesters.
“Systematically arresting those who oppose police brutality when there is no wrongdoing is an undemocratic act that is against the laws and the Canadian constitution,” said Alex Tyrrell, leader of the Green Party of Quebec.
“The Green Party of Quebec opposes Montreal’s By-law P-6 and calls on Mayor Coderre to show respect for democracy and repeal this totalitarian by-law,” said Catherine Lovatt-Smith, Deputy Leader of the DYP.
“Arresting, handcuffing, searching, and detaining political demonstrators and then removing the arrest notices is nothing more than an extra-judicial trial without a judge, without evidence, and without justice” concluded Mr. Tyrrell.
Arrêter systématiquement ceux qui s’opposent à la brutalité policière quand aucun méfait n’est commis est un geste…
