After Christine Fréchette’s won the vote to become the party leader for the CAQ, Alex Tyrrell, leader of the Green Party of Quebec, shared his thoughts on this change in leadership.

On his Facebook account, Tyrrell hoped for changes to CAQ policies under a different leadership than François Legault’s.

” Congratulations to Christine Fréchette for her victory. At least, Bernard Drainville did not win. I hope that Ms. Fréchette will be able to deliver some positive changes until the upcoming elections, like bringing back the PEQ.

In her victory speech, she mentionned wanting to make Quebec move forward and not backwards. There is an extensive list of policies put forward by her predecessor that she could remove to move Quebec forward. The constitution project, law 21, and many more. But I doubt that she will truly move away from Legault’s right wing policies.

However, she opens the door to changing some of the less ecologically minded policies that Legault put in place. Notably, all the policies on oil drilling and maintening carbon exchange.” – Alex Tyrrell via Facebook
