A longtime volunteer with the Green Party of Canada in Toronto, and also with the Green Party of Quebec, she decided to enter politics this year to do her part for the world and improve Quebec’s future. Arriving in Canada from France in the 1980s, Victoria earned a doctorate in marine biology. She then found employment in Winnipeg, and later in Manitoba, where she taught biology at Collège Saint-Boniface. After settling in Toronto in 1984, she became the director of the Women’s Leadership Institute at Glendon College, part of York University. Deeply committed to the feminist cause and to improving gender equality, she has been very active in various organizations.
At the local level, Victoria wants to prioritize social equality, a key issue in Quebec. She also aims to make schools more accessible in her riding and implement a province-wide composting system. Improving the recycling system is a major priority for Quebec; the province needs to make its recycling system more efficient. To this end, Victoria and the Green Party of Quebec advocate for nationalizing the waste recycling industry, which would lead to an overall reduction in waste production.
In her spare time, Victoria is a writer; during the COVID-19 pandemic, she even published a book in Persian to help immigrants settle in Canada.
