Alex was born in Kirkland and has been passionate about nature since childhood. In her free time, she enjoys creating art, traveling, and gardening. After studying Earth System Science at John Abbott College, she became aware of the planet’s dire state and decided to pursue a degree in Environmental Geography at Concordia University. She graduated in 2022, having gained knowledge about Earth’s climate system, the negative impacts of human activities on the natural environment, and the socioeconomic systems that have contributed to anthropogenic climate change.
Alex began her work with the Green Party of Quebec as a research intern, where she researched environmental issues across the province. Since then, she has become a member of the executive council and is pleased to be running as a candidate in the general election of October 5, 2026.
In her campaign, Alex hopes to highlight four key issues:
First, she believes that public transit should be free and that greater investment is needed to improve its services. As a province where the majority of emissions come from transportation, making public transit more accessible and reliable would greatly contribute to reducing Quebec’s emissions.
Second, she believes that greater investments are needed in the health system to facilitate access to care. Although she supports free healthcare, she is concerned that people don’t have access to the care they need. Investments are necessary so that free healthcare is not synonymous with inaccessibility.
Third, she believes in preserving and expanding green spaces. Green spaces are important for many reasons, including protecting biodiversity, storing carbon, combating the effects of urban heat islands, and preserving the physical and mental health of residents. She believes that development should be limited to already developed areas, such as vertical building expansion to avoid changes in land use.
Finally, she believes in promoting bilingualism. Around the world, speaking more than one language is celebrated. Alex wants the same to be true in Quebec, where learning and using a second language is encouraged. This includes using the second language in the workplace and teaching it in schools.
