Mehdi Lahlou believes that environmental protection must go hand in hand with social justice and the well-being of the entire population. This conviction motivates him to continue his political involvement and to advocate for concrete solutions that will make our society more sustainable, more supportive, and more equitable. In particular, he wants to promote more environmentally respectful practices, improve access to affordable food, encourage more responsible consumption, and strengthen the social safety net so that no one is left behind.
Born in Tangier, Morocco, Mehdi arrived in Quebec with his family at the age of six. He completed a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Université Laval before pursuing a master’s degree in public communication. His academic journey led him to develop a strong interest in human behaviour, communication, and the social issues affecting communities.
Following his studies, Mehdi worked with children living with Down syndrome, autism, and multiple disabilities within a specialized organization. This experience strengthened his awareness of issues related to inclusion and social justice. He currently works in the fence installation and repair industry.
Having already been a candidate in the 2022 provincial election, Mehdi chose to continue his involvement with the Green Party of Quebec because he identifies with the values, ideas, and actions promoted by the party. He particularly appreciates its ongoing commitment to protecting the environment, building a more equitable society, and advancing sustainable development.
In the Jean-Talon riding, Mehdi hopes to encourage more sustainable development projects, promote public transportation solutions that better meet the needs of the population, and help reduce food insecurity. He also wants to support the growth of the social economy, improve the quality of the social safety net, and encourage more sustainable practices in local development projects.
In his spare time, Mehdi enjoys drawing, music, board games, and various sports, including soccer, basketball, and dance.
