Jean-Pierre Duford is running for a fourth time as the Green Party of Quebec candidate in Saint-Henri–Sainte-Anne in the 2026 Quebec general election. Driven by a strong desire to make a positive difference in our society, Jean-Pierre wants to ensure that the issues he cares deeply about are heard and represented. He is committed to raising public awareness of environmental challenges and helping build a society that is more environmentally and socially responsible, as well as a Quebec that is fair, inclusive, and just for everyone.
After completing a Diploma of Vocational Studies (DVS) in horticulture at Louis-Riel, Jean-Pierre began working as a gardener for the City of Montreal. For several years, he worked primarily in municipal parks and at the Montreal Botanical Garden. More recently, he decided to take on new professional challenges and accepted a new position in the horticultural field. Jean-Pierre’s environmental commitment extends well beyond his professional life. He is a member of the community group Sauvons la falaise! (“Save the Cliff!”), which advocates for the protection of the Falaise Saint-Jacques ecoterritory. He is also an active member of Demain Sud-Ouest, a citizen-led organization working to advance the ecological transition in Montreal’s Sud-Ouest. His involvement in these local initiatives reflects his deep connection to the community he hopes to represent. Jean-Pierre chose to join the Green Party of Quebec because its political and environmental values closely reflect his own, particularly its commitment to social justice.
At the local level, Jean-Pierre advocates for free public transit and major investments in the transit network to provide residents with better and more accessible service. He is committed to protecting and improving urban green spaces, bringing people closer to nature, and supporting greater biodiversity throughout the community. He also wants to see more affordable housing built for families, greater support for urban agriculture in Saint-Henri–Sainte-Anne, and better access to organic and locally produced Quebec food. More broadly, Jean-Pierre is a dedicated advocate for social justice, minority rights, and environmental protection. Fair and democratic electoral representation is especially important to him. He believes elected representatives must listen to the people they serve and work toward meaningful change that improves the lives of disadvantaged and marginalized communities while ensuring a more equitable distribution of Quebec’s wealth.
Approachable, straightforward, and honest, Jean-Pierre believes politics should be rooted in listening to citizens and working in the public interest. Outside of politics and community involvement, Jean-Pierre enjoys gardening, spending time outdoors, hiking, going to the beach, and sharing barbecues with friends.
For Jean-Pierre, every vote cast for the Green Party of Quebec sends an important message.
