Dear members of the Green Party of Quebec,
I would like to thank you for the trust you have placed in me with my new role as your party leader.
Through this campaign, I had the opportunity to interact with many of you on social media, on the phone, and in person. You have inspired me to do everything I can to advance our common values. At 25 years old, I am now the youngest leader in Quebec politics, and very optimistic about the future of our party.
We have had difficult years. Today we are turning the page on old conflicts in the hope of uniting the party around progressive ideas.
My friends, we are a team with great potential and good ideas. Together we will lead this party to the next level.
You voted for the unity of the party, for a team spirit, and for a progressive vision for the future of Quebec.
The political situation in Quebec City is volatile. There is a real possibility of elections within the next few weeks and with your help we will be ready. If you are interested in running under our banner in the next election, please contact us. You will join a strong, dynamic, and determined team.
I would like to encourage women in particular to run on our team, and we will take proactive measures to achieve our goal of having a team with gender parity and representation of our diversity.
The challenges are great, but I am more confident than ever about what we will accomplish together.
I would like to appeal to all our former members, supporters and candidates to return to the GPQ. We are a united party and we will present a very good option in the next election; I invite you to join us.
In solidarity,
Alex Tyrrell
Leader of the Green Party of Quebec
