Yesterday, the court ruled that the Minister of the Environment was in violation when he authorized the work of the oil industry in Cacouna before receiving scientific advice.
It is unthinkable that a minister could do this, as if corporate interests were more important than the protection of a species threatened with extinction.
The beluga whales will be entitled to a stay until October 15, with work on the oil port suspended until the next phase of the legal process can begin.
