Austerity for us, gifts for them.

While the Couillard government imposes cuts in public health care, education, the environment and pension plans, it gives huge gifts to its multinational friends in the Plan Nord.

We must ask ourselves questions about their motives. According to a report in Le Devoir, subsidies to the mining industry could cost much more than the royalties the state will receive if the mega-projects go ahead.

We must not forget the 698 abandoned mining sites in Quebec for which taxpayers, not the industry, are responsible.

Where are their priorities and what are their motives?
