Tomorrow evening, I will present the Green Party of Quebec’s brief to the BAPE on the uranium industry.
Quebec is about to decide whether we should follow the example of British Columbia and Nova Scotia, which have both banned uranium mining on their territory. According to the Green Party of Quebec, many researchers and first nations leaders, the answer is yes.
Globally, the nuclear industry is at its last breath. The risks are becoming better and better known, and it is more obvious than ever that uranium mining will put our health and the well-being of our ecosystems at risk.
If Quebec has taken a step forward with the closure of our last nuclear power plant two years ago, logically we should continue on the same path by banning uranium mining on our territory!
