It is with great sadness and regret that we learn today of the death of the first Canadian soldier in Canada’s intervention in Iraq.

Today, Prime Minister Harper has blood on his hands. Canada has no business taking part in this endless American war.

The death of Andrew Joseph Doiron is an unacceptable loss of life.

This military operation, which had been presented as a simple air mission, has now taken the form of a major ground offensive that has already resulted in numerous injuries and, as of today, one death.

If we really want to honour the life of Sergeant Andrew Joseph Doiron, let us say loud and clear that we are AGAINST all forms of Canadian involvement in Iraq.

The time has come for Canada to return to its traditional role as a peacekeeper. We have no business supporting the continuation of the American wars.
