The Green Party of Quebec supports the group of citizens who are demonstrating today for the closure of the Montreal pound Le Berger Blanc.
« This private pound service that operates with public funds does not meet the needs of the Montreal community in terms of pet management. The rate of euthanasia is extremely high and the pound does not even take minimal steps to find the owners of lost pets. Too often the solution is euthanasia. The Green Party of Quebec is calling on Mayor Coddere to close Le Berger Blanc immediately and transition to a public service, free of euthanasia and cruelty, that respects animals and owners, » said Alex Tyrrell, leader of the Green Party of Quebec.
