Visit to the Canadian Malartic gold mine in Québec’s Abitibi East region where local residents are in court to have their health and rights respected.

This open pit mine, one of the biggest in the country, has generated billions of dollars of profits for the private sector but has never paid a cent of income tax. They are also known for hundreds of infractions to environmental regulations.

Canadian Malartic is now proposing to double the size of the mine and to expropriate the southern part of the city of Malartic; home to almost 1400 people.
