In response to Mr. Lisée’s comments on secularism, Aziza Dini, a member of the Green Party of Quebec, speaks in Notre-Dame-de-Grâce to address the debate that challenges the notion of secularism.

The debate on secularism is rekindling many tensions in our province. Indeed, such debates can easily lead to a rise in power of extreme right-wing groups. The ban on religious symbols promoted by the leader of the Parti Québécois would simply mean the legalization of discrimination in employment.

The Green Party of Quebec is opposed to such a vision of secularism, which is intended solely to garner votes at the expense of the fundamental rights and freedoms of a segment of society.
