For the last two years, I have had the privilege of working with Marie Balaguy, Executive Director of the Green Party of Quebec! After many great achievements as part of our team, she is leaving us to take up new challenges on her home continent of Europe.
Marie provided immeasurable support to the Green Party of Quebec during the 2018 provincial elections. At 22 years old and just after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, she embarked on organizing a provincial campaign of unprecedented proportions.
With very limited resources, Marie helped us recruit, train and field 97 very high quality candidates from across Quebec for this election. The average age was 34 years old, and 59% of our candidates were women. The Green Party tripled its share of the vote in this election, a level of success that would be hard to imagine without Ms. Balaguy’s contribution to the organization.
It was a great pleasure to run this campaign with Marie and I will always be grateful for the support and hard work she brought to us as a group. In the coming years, she plans to work and complete a master’s degree in climate policy and energy management. It is possible that she will come back to help us with the 2022 provincial campaign!
