Today in the House of Commons, Green Party MP Paul Manly (B.C.) used his first question since the election to denounce the Alberta Tar Sands and more specifically the approval of the new Teck Frontier tar sands expansion project.
On behalf of environmentalists, activists and all those who petitioned Elizabeth May earlier this year to oppose the tar sands I would like to thank Paul Manly for standing up to this highly destructive industry (and lobby) that is poisoning our environment, our health and Alberta’s economy while delivering massive profits to big business and multinational corporations at our expense.
Greens Party Members should always stand in strong opposition to the Alberta Tar Sands. I am very happy to see that Paul Manly has the courage that it takes to speak out in parliament against such a powerful industry.
