Originally from Guinea, Halimatou Bah holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the Université du Québec à Montréal, a master’s degree in public administration and a certificate in program evaluation from the École nationale d’administration publique (ENAP).

An activist and deeply concerned about environmental and social justice issues, she chose to get involved with the Green Party of Quebec because of its eco-socialist platform that addresses all of these issues.

A candidate for the Green Party of Quebec in the riding of Saint-Laurent in the 2018 Quebec general election, Halimatou Bah has been a strong advocate for greater respect for the environment, protection of wetlands, massive investments in public transportation, as well as greater recognition of degrees earned abroad.

Mother of three young children and particularly touched by the realities experienced by Quebec families, she has also become the GPQ spokesperson for the Family file in order to pressure the Legault government and ensure that the interests of Quebecers are preserved.

Halimatou Bah is also a feminist and fights vigorously against injustice and violence against women. Domestic violence has serious and sometimes fatal consequences within families. For Halimatou Bah, the answers and solutions are not sufficient. It is a systemic problem for which we must demand more action from the justice system and the government in place.

Today, as Deputy Leader of the GPQ, Halimatou Bah intends to continue her fight, ensuring that the GPQ’s voice is heard, both in the political arena and in the media, and by the general public.
